Oliva's Serie V cigar is made up of specially fermented Nicaraguan Jalapa Valley ligero fillers and a Nicaraguan binder, all wrapped in an Ecuadorian Sun Grown Habano leaf. In the Melanio version, named after Melanio Oliva, the first member of the Oliva family to grow tobacco, the Habano wrapper is usually exchanged for Ecuadorian Sumatran, while the rich filler blend and binder remain, but in the Melanio Maduro version, the wrapper is Mexican San Andrés leaf. The Oliva Serie V Melanio Maduro, which highlights this rich Maduro varietal, has a robust flavor profile with hints of chocolate, smoky cedar, and malt.
