The JFR Lunatic Torch Imagine (5½" x 50) is an oddity: a Nicaraguan puro with an unusual smoking experience manufactured by Aganorsa Leaf at the Tabacos Valle de Jalapa S.A. factory. The Robusto is joined by a Corojo '99 wrapper with Nicaraguan binder/importation material in such a construction as would so allow. What singles this out is the "brush foot", or shaggy foot-the first half inch is devoid of covering leaf so that the smoker can taste some of the binder and filler before the profile is muted by the introduction of the wrapper. This lends a very distinctive profile which is spicy and nuanced just enough to make things interesting. Consider this: a medium-strength stalwart winding together pepper, cedar, espresso, baking spices, and leather notes for what is already going to be quite a pleasurable smoking experience.
