Traditional handmade cigars had ring sizes as high as 50 or 52, but Stanford knew that nothing less than a ring gauge of 54 would produce the desired results. As a result, every DIAMOND CROWN ROBUSTO series cigar, from the 8 1/2" ROBUSTO No. 1 to the 4 1/2" ROBUSTO No. 5, has a 54 ring. The DIAMOND CROWN ROBUSTO PYRAMID No. 7 has a 54 ring, which only the most experienced and talented cigar rollers can achieve. A 7 3/4" by 54 ring pyramid cigar is a true testament to Tabaclaera A. Fuente's talented rollers in the Dominican Republic.
The exclusive Connecticut Fermented Wrapper is one of the factors that contribute to the unique flavor of DIAMOND CROWN cigars (CFW). Unlike most other high-quality tobacco wrappers, which are typically hung in barns, dried, and bulked for a single fermentation before being packed in bales and rolled into cigars, DIAMOND CROWN'S CFW wrapper undergoes a second fermentation. Unpacked from the bale, specially fermented five-year-old wrapper leaves are conditioned and graded. The silkiest, smoothest leaves are chosen and bulked for a second fermentation. This "second curing" evens out and develops the rosado color of the tobacco wrapper, as well as accounts for much of DIAMOND CROWN'S sweet, smooth, and rich flavor.
