The La Gloria Cubana Spanish Press collection will consist of three cigars that will be handcrafted at the El Credito Cigar Factory, a boutique rolling gallery located within General Cigar Dominicana. There, artisans will place freshly rolled cigars in wooden trays with dividers that apply uniform and even pressure to the cigars. The trays will then be pressed to define the shape of the cigars. The cigars will be placed in specially sized boxes after they have been pressed to help them maintain their shape.
The method is similar to the old Spanish-press technique used in pre-embargo Cuba, where the boxes were used to shape the cigars. The Nicaraguan-forward blend from La Gloria Cubana Spanish Press will include hand-selected tobaccos from four countries. Nicaraguan Jalapa, Dominican Piloto Cubana and Olor, Brazilian Mata Fina, and a Mexican San Andrés binder will make up the filler. The wrapper for the cigar will be a Nicaraguan leaf from Jalapa. It will have earthy, spicy, and toasty notes.
